Quick Recipes for Dinner – Turkey Burgers
If you’re not a huge fan of pan-roasted, heavy turkey around the holidays, then this lighter, simpler way of including turkey in your diet is a must-try! Turkey has much less fat than ground beef and you can find ground turkey in the same aisle for a similar price. These burgers are not only healthier, but have gourmet ingredients, too. You might not even miss ground beef once you try this delicious substitute. Enjoy! These are tasty burgers whether eaten in the spring, summer, or winter. Ground turkey is always easy to find, and organic naturally fed turkey is particularly delicious with this recipe. Also try it with a red-pepper or cranberry jelly for a sweeter alternative condiment, and something else to remind you of the holidays!
Quick Recipes for Dinner – Ingredients
Serves 4
- 1 lb. ground Turkey
- ½ medium-sized Red Onion, chopped (optional)
- 1 thick slice of White Bread
- 3 tbsp Boiling Water
- 1 Garlic Clove, crushed
- Small handful of dried Cranberries, chopped
- 3 ½ tbsp Brie, cubed
- 2 tbsp Ketchup
- 2 sprigs fresh Rosemary, chopped
- Salt and Pepper to taste
Quick Recipes for Dinner – Directions
- Preheat grill to medium heat.
- In a small bowl, tear the bread slice and mash together with garlic and boiling water. Set aside.
- In a separate mixing bowl, mix together the turkey, ketchup, rosemary, brie, cranberries and onion. Add bread mixture, salt and pepper. Mix together with hands until well combined. Shape and flatten to patties.
- Grill patties for about 12 minutes altogether (6 minutes per side) until cooked through. Serve on burger buns with all hamburger fixings.
*Tips
Allow the turkey meat to sit out of the fridge for 20 minutes before cooking to warm up. That way, when the patties are cooked on the grill, the turkey meat will cook faster, retain more of its juices and flavour, and ultimately make for a more tender and tasty burger experience.
